Phata Byung Hydroelectric Project

The Phata Byung Hydroelectric Project is a run-off river project located on the cascade of the Mandakini River, a major tributary of the Alakananda River, Uttarakhand, India. The purpose of the project is used for diverting the water for the generation of electricity.

The project activity includes civil structures such as concrete dam and other infrastructure.

The project comprises a 26 m high concrete gravity dam with a submergence length of 520 m, an underground powerhouse, intake structures, a water-conducting system, an underground powerhouse, a 9.38 km headrace tunnel, tailrace tunnel. The project is located about 10.20 km downstream on the right bank of Mandakini River near Byung village. The installed capacity of the powerhouse is 76 MW.

Encardio-rite was awarded the sub-contract for supply as well as installation of safety monitoring instrumentation for the project. The instrumentation included
