Gurudeshwar Weir

Gurudeshwar weir is situated on the Narmada River near the Statue of Unity in Bharuch district in Gujrat. Garudeshwar Dam is proposed as part of the power component of the Sardar Sarovar (Narmada) dam project to act as downstream storage. The water from the weir will be pumped back into the dam and then again sent through turbines to generate power. The weir will facilitate the production of power during peak hours with the help of reversible turbines at the dam. The reservoir formed will also provide a navigation channel of 7 km for ferry service from the Shreshtha Bharat Bhawan to the Statue of Unity.

The Garudeshwar Dam has a huge 12 km long reservoir with a live storage capacity of 32.9 million cubic meters; the height of the dam is 31.5 m.
