Shahpurkandi Hydropower Project
Shahpurkandi hydropower project is located on the Ravi River in Pathankot district, Punjab, India. The project is constructed on the canal from Shahpurkandi Barrage to Madhopur headworks, downstream of the existing Ranjit Sagar Dam. The water released by Ranjit Sagar Dam is utilized for generating power from this project. The project consists of a 55.5 m high concrete gravity dam, a 7.70 km long hydel channel, two head regulators, and two powerhouses. The design discharge capacity of the dam is 21500 cumsec. The total output capacity of the project is 206 MW.
Encardio-rite was awarded the sub-contract for supply as well as installation of safety monitoring instrumentation for the project. The instrumentation included:
- Uplift pressure cells
- Total pressure cells
- Strain meter – rosette with no stress strain meter
- Temperature meter
- Joint meter - triaxial
- Joint meter - uniaxial
- Plumbline – normal and inverted
- Portable readout units
