The USBRL project is one of the largest and perhaps the most challenging railway projects in the world. The 312 km railway line is being built from the city of Udhampur, North of Jammu to the city of Baramulla at the North Western Edge of the Kashmir Valley. Udhampur is already connected to the rest of India through Jammu. The railway line will thus connect the Kashmir valley to the rest of the Country.
Encardio-rite was awarded the instrumentation and monitoring contract for almost 20 large tunnels on this rail link project. The toughest section of this stretch is the 90 km long Katra to Laole section in which 80% of the railway line passes through a tunnel or is on a bridge. IRCON, Indian Railways and Konkan Railways are in-charge of executing the various sections of this massive project.
