Teesta Stage-V Hydroelectric Plant

The Teesta-V Hydroelectric Project in East Sikkim, India, features advanced geotechnical monitoring solutions. Encardio Rite provided instrumentation, including piezometers, strain meters, plumb lines, and accelerometers. These systems measure critical parameters like pore pressure, concrete stress, and seismic activity. The online monitoring system provides real-time data access, facilitating proactive management and informed decision-making. This state-of-the-art infrastructure project aims to provide clean energy while ensuring the safety and stability of the dam and powerhouse.

Teesta Stage-V Hydroelectric Plant

Located in Singtam, Sikkim, this hydroelectric plant has 3 units. It is part of the hydraulic engineering project on the Teesta River in India, located in the State of Sikkim, on the southern slope of the Himalayas. Two unique aspects distinguish the project: the technology used and the logistics involved.

Encardio-rite was responsible for the execution of complete monitoring services for the dam. The scope of work included supply, installation, and manual as well as automatic monitoring. Instruments installed included a piezometer, water level recorder, pressure cells, borehole extensometer, joint meter, temperature meter, plumb lines, seepage measurement system, prism targets, automatic data acquisition system, and seismographs.

Web-based data monitoring services were provided for the online monitoring of the geotechnical instrumentation and presentation of near-real-time data for the client.
