Kalpong Hydroelectric Project

Encardio Rite offered essential safety monitoring solutions for the Kalpong Hydroelectric Project, located in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The project features a rock-fill and concrete gravity dam with a 5.25 MW installed capacity. Encardio Rite supplied and installed advanced geotechnical instrumentation to monitor the structural integrity of the dam. The system helps ensure the long-term stability of the project, supporting electricity generation for Diglipur and nearby towns.

Kalpong Hydroelectric Project

The Kalpong Hydroelectric project is constructed across the Kalpong River at Nabagram, Diglipur in the North and Middle Andaman district. The main purpose behind the construction of this dam is electricity generation for the people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, notably for the residents of Diglipur and its nearby towns.

The project consists of a Rock-Fill and Concrete Gravity dam with a storage capacity of 15,270,000 m3 and having a reservoir area of 1,.84 km2. The length of the Concrete dam on the left fork is 138 m, and the height is 34 m (103 ft), while the length of the Rockfill Dam on the right fork is 146 m (479 ft) and the height is 27 m (88.5 ft). The total installed capacity of the project is 5.25 MW.

Encardio-rite was awarded the sub-contract for the supply as well as the installation of safety monitoring instrumentation for the project.
