Kaleswaram- Tupakulagudem Barrage

The Tupakulagudem Barrage, also known as the Sammakka Barrage is constructed across the Godavari river near Tupakulagudem Village, Eturnagaram Mandal, Mulugu district in Telangana State. The barrage is basically a diversion structure built across the river for the purpose of diversion of the required quantum of river flows for the purpose of Irrigation, Hydro-Electric Power Generation, domestic water supply and industrial water supply. 

This concrete barrage is 1.2 km long, 30 m high with 48 (radial-lift gates) spillways and having a total 6.94 tmcft reservoir capacity.

Encardio-rite was awarded the complete contract for supply as well as installation of safety monitoring instrumentation for the project. The instrumentation included:

  • Foundation piezometer
  • Pore pressure gauge
  • In-place inclinometer system 
  • Earth pressure cell
  • Concrete pressure cell
  • Temperature meter
  • Joint meter
  • Automatic water level recorder 
  • Automatic data logger with GSM/GPRS Modem
  • Prism targets with break-off points & convergence bolts
