Deep Tunnel Sewerage System Phase 2 (Link Sewers)

The Deep Tunnel Sewerage System (DTSS) is a massive integrated project being developed by the Public Utilities Board (PUB) in Singapore to meet the island country’s long term clean water needs through the collection, treatment, reclamation and disposal of used water from industries, homes and businesses. The DTSS project involves construction of two large deep gravity tunnels, 6.5 m in diameter and 80 km long in total, located about 50 m below the surface, to carry sewage to three centralised water reclamation plants (WRP). The used water is treated and purified to a high quality water known as NEWater. The excess treated effluent is discharged through deep sea outfall pipes into the straits of Singapore.

DTSS phase II extends the tunnel system to the west of Singapore through a 30 km long south tunnel, 70 km of link sewers, the Tuas WRP and a 12 km deep-sea outfall.

Instrumentation and monitoring works for the link sewers of DTSS Phase 2 Project as well as for the Tuas water reclamation plants was carried out by our marketing associate in the region. Almost 215 numbers of our piezometers and 50 numbers of arc weldable strain gages were in the project. All sensors (100%) are operating satisfactorily until today.
