Delhi Metro Project Phase I

Delhi Metro has been ranked second among 18 international Metro systems in terms of overall customer satisfaction in an online customer survey. Delhi Metro is also the world's 13th largest metro system in terms of length and 12th largest in terms of number of stations. Delhi Metro is India's third urban mass rapid transport system (after the Kolkata Metro and Chennai MRTS) and first modern rapid transit system. Delhi Metro was planned to be built in phases spread over around 20 years as with each phase having a target of five years and end of one phase marking the beginning of another. Phase III and Phase IV are scheduled for completion in 2016 and 2021, respectively. Work on Phase III started in 2011 while planning for Phase IV has begun.

Phase-I involved construction of an 11.1 km underground rail line and a 41 km surface/elevated rail line intersecting at the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT). The contract was awarded in two parts: MC1A (4.5 km long 4 stations) and MC1B (6.6 km long, 6 stations) corridors. MC1A was awarded to and MC1B was awarded Instrumentation and monitoring of underground metro corridors MC1A and MC1B was done by Encardio-rite using its range of geotechnical instruments. The route has 10 underground stations of approximately 0.3 km length each, with 7.6 km (3.8 km x 2) of bored tunnels and 4.3 km of cut and cover tunnels. During the period of 2002 - 2005, the complete work of supplying, installation and monitoring was executed by Encardio-rite for both KSHI and IMCC on a turnkey basis.The instruments used in the Delhi Metro Project are Inclinometer system for diaphragm walls and subsurface monitoring around stations and tunnels, Magnetic extensometer for subsurface settlement monitoring around stations; standpipe piezometers, casagrande piezometer, crack meters, tilt meters, compression load cells for struts, compression load cell for pile testing, center hole load cell for anchors, strain gages (spot weldable) for strut monitoring, strain gages (arc weldable) for pile testing and diaphragm walls, bore hole extensometer, thousands of building settlement markers, pavement settlement, markers, ground settlement markers, including datum bench marks, portable readout units and data acquisition system.


Delhi Metro Project Phase II

Dubai Metro project - Red Line

The Red Line is one of the two lines on the Dubai Metro network in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. . The line has 29 stations spanning 52.1 km (32.4 mi), which have been opened in phases from 2009 to 2011. It runs from Al Rashidiya to Jebel Ali and travels along Sheikh Zayed Road for most of its length.

The Red Line has 29 stations, including 24 elevated (by means of a viaduct), four underground stations, and one at ground level. The line is 52.1 km (32.4 mi) long, with 4.7 km (2.9 mi) underground.

Dubai Metro is a world-class, fully automated, driverless railway system. The metro is constructed and delivered in two stages, red line (stage 1) and the green line (stage 2). In the congested central areas of Dubai, the metro lines are mainly underground.

Instrumentation work on underground sections of the red line (underground line 5.6 km long with 4 underground stations) started in May 2006 and has been successfully completed by Encardio-rite. Services included supply, installation, monitoring, surveying and drilling. Encardio-rite had deployed around 22 personals stationed in Dubai for the execution of these services. The instrumentation used for red line mainly consisted of large number of sensors for the massive project: inclinometers for diaphragm walls and subsurface monitoring around stations, magnetic extensometer for subsurface settlement monitoring around stations, standpipe piezometers, thousands of building settlement markers, pavement and ground settlement markers including datum bench marks, crack meters, portable tilt meters with hundreds of bronze tilt plates, compression load cells for struts, spot weldable strain gages for strut monitoring, potable readout unit with various accessories including cables, switch/junction boxes, etc.


Dubai Metro Project - Green Line

The Green Line has 20 stations, including 12 elevated (by means of aviaduct), and 8 underground stations. The line is 22.5 kilometers (14.0 mi), with 7.9 kilometers (4.9 mi) underground. It is served by 25 driverless trains travelling at an average speed of 110 kilometres per hour (68 mph).

Dubai Metro, a world-Class, fully automated, driverless railway system was constructed and delivered in two stages, Red Line (Stage 1) and the Green Line (Stage 2). In the congested central areas of Dubai, the Metro lines are mainly underground. Instrumentation work on underground section Green Line (underground line 7.9 km long with 6 underground stations) started in April 2007 and took around another year for completion.

Encardio-rite has done supply, installation, monitoring, surveying and drilling for this line by posting its technical teams of engineers in Dubai. In addition, Encardio-rite has also completed successfully instrumentation of some overhead portions including Jafza Limitless, where soil conditions required close monitoring. Encardio-rite is associated with GAMMON - MOSMETROSTROY joint venture (GILMMS JV) for instrumentation of package UAA-03 on corridor one including four underground stations at Saidapet, Chamier's, Teynampet, Gemini and associated bored tunnels about 3,370 m twin tunnels. The project contract have a value of INR1014.42 crores. Average depth of the tunnel in CMRL will vary from 15 to 17 m from rail level with an outer diameter of 6.2 m and an inner diameter of 5.8 m. As per Gammon the contract is valued at INR 8294.16 Million plus Euro 17.43 Million and the works are scheduled for completion in 1521 days from the date of commencement of 2nd April 2011. There are two separate tunnels for the up and down railway tracks. The diameter of tunnel is 6.6 mtr. Encardio-rite is supplying installing and monitoring geotechnical and structural instruments involved for the Instrumentation works of UAA-02 .
