May 10, 2006, Encardio-rite was awarded subcontract
for supply/installation of instrumentation and for
monitoring data of Red Line at Dubai Metro Project. The
Dubai Metro Project is a World class fully automated
driverless railway system being commissioned by Dubai
Municipality at a total cost of US$ 3.39 billion.
The construction work of the project is being carried
out by DURL (Dubai Rail Link), a Consortium of four
companies comprising of Obayashi Corporation (Japan),
Kajima Corporation (Japan) Mitsubishi Corporation
(Japan) and Yapi Merkezi (Turkey).
Encardio-rite is completely responsible for the
geotechnical and structural engineering instrumentation
of the underground tunnel sections and underground
stations on a turnkey basis. The services include
supply, installation and commissioning of the surface
and subsurface instrumentation required for the project.
Drilling of boreholes for installation of the subsurface
instruments is in the scope of work of Encardio-rite.
Responsibility also includes surface surveying with
total stations and auto levels and monitoring of data
from all the installed instruments.
Encardio-rite has deployed a competent team of more than
25 technical personnel at the Dubai Metro Project site
to handle the above works.

The range of instrumentation used at Dubai Metro Project
includes inclinometer in D-wall and ground, standpipe,
casagrande piezometer, magnetic extensometer, tilt
meter, crack meter, tape extensometer, spot weldable
strain gages, compression type load cells, read-out
units, surface settlement markers, pavement settlement
markers, building settlement markers, reflex targets and
datum bench mark, etc.
Encardio-rite's experience in instrumenting Metros is
unparallel amongst organizations in the field of
geotechnical instrumentation. Earlier, Encardio-rite had
instrumented on a turnkey basis the underground portion
of the Delhi Metro Project consisting of around 12 km of
tunneling and 11 underground stations. Encardio-rite
deployed a team of 18 technical personnel at site for a
period of around two years for instrumentation and data
monitoring. The Metro passes through crowded areas, some
with buildings more than 100 years old, underneath main
railway lines and near monuments of historical
importance. We take pride in our contribution towards
the project being completed six months ahead of schedule
observing all safety norms and meeting the
specifications as laid down in the project documents.
Encardio-rite has supplied instrumentation for several
other Metros around the world including those at Hong
Kong, Singapore, Ankara and Athens etc.
