Encardio-rite has great expertise in instrumentation of metros, tunnels and underground cavities. It has successfully instrumented a large number of metros and tunnels Worldwide like, Delhi Metro, Dubai Metro, Athens Metro, Hong Kong Metro, Pir Panjal Tunnels & Konkan Railway tunnels etc. Our services also include installation and monitoring as in Delhi Metro and Dubai Metro.

Details of some of the projects instrumented by us on turnkey basis are given below.

Dubai Metro - Red Line & Green Line, Dubai, UAE

Dubai Metro, on completion, will be a World-Class, fully automated, driverless Railway System. The Metro will be constructed and delivered in two stages, Red Line (Stage 1) and the Green Line (Stage 2).

The owners of the project are Roads & Transport Authority-Dubai, the Designers are W S Atkins & Partners Overseas, Consultants are Systra Parson and Contractors are Obayashi Corporation representing Japan- Turkey Metro JV.
In the congested central areas of Dubai, the Metro lines are mainly underground. Instrumentation work on underground sections of the Red Line (underground line 5.6 km long with 4 underground stations) started in May 2006 and has been successfully completed by Encardio-rite. Encardio-rite services included Supply, Installation, Monitoring, Surveying and Drilling. Encardio-rite had posted around 22 personals in Dubai for these jobs.

Instrumentation work on underground section Green Line (underground line 7.9 km long with 6 underground stations) started in April 2007 and will take around another year for completion. Encardio-rite has done supply, installation, monitoring, surveying and drilling for this line by posting around 17 personals in Dubai.

In addition, Encardio-rite has also completed successfully instrumentation of some overhead portions including Jafza Limitless, where soil conditions required close monitoring.

The instrumentation used for Red Line and Green line mainly consisted of:

Udhampur – Srinagar – Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), J&K, India

USBRL project could be described as one of the largest and most challenging railway project in the world. The 312 km railway line is being built from the city of Udhampur, North of Jammu to the city of Baramulla at the North Western Edge of the Kashmir Valley. Udhampur is already connected to the rest of India through Jammu. The railway line will thus connect the Kashmir valley to the rest of the Country.

Encardio-rite is instrumenting 20 large tunnels on this rail link project, including the around 11 km long Pir Panjal Tunnel. The toughest section of this stretch is the 90 km long Katra to laole section in which 80 % of the railway line passes through a tunnel or is on a bridge.

IRCON, Indian Railways and Konkan Railways are in-charge of executing the various sections of this massive project. Besides supplying the instruments, Encardio-rite is also doing the installation and monitoring of the data through a large number of qualified and trained Engineers and Technicians.

The large number of sensors used in this massive project include:

Delhi Metro

Metro Project gave Delhi a world-class mass rapid transit system and has been recognized all over the world for its specialty in terms of a hi-tech rail and better equipped transport system. The project is under the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, DMRC.

Delhi Metro has a combination of elevated, at-grade and underground lines. A large percentage of the Delhi Metro is underground because of space constraints.

Delhi Metro project Phase-I involved construction of an 11.1 km underground rail line and a 41 km surface/elevated rail line intersecting at the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT). The contract was awarded in two parts: MC1A (4.5 km long 4 stations) and MC1B (6.6 km long, 6 stations) corridors. MC1A was awarded to KSHI (Kumagai-Skanska-HCC-Itochu) JV and MC1B was awarded to IMCC (Dywidag-L&T, Samsung, Ircon-Shimizu) JV.

Instrumentation and monitoring of underground metro corridors MC1A and MC1B was done by Encardio-rite using its range of geotechnical instruments. The route has 10 underground stations of approximately 0.3 km length each, with 7.6 km (3.8 km x2) of bored tunnels and 4.3 km of cut and cover tunnels. During the period of 2002 - 2005, the complete work of supplying, installation and monitoring was executed by Encardio-rite for both KSHI and IMCC on a turnkey basis. During the period of peak activity Encardio-rite had a team of 18 Engineers and Technicians posted at the various sites.

After successful completion of Phase I, Encardio-rite is now executing the instrumentation work for various underground sections of Phase II, which comprises of a total 36 km of underground corridors and 96 km of surface rail corridors. The route has 20 underground stations.
